This Privacy Policy explains what information Vehama Recipes (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://vehama.com (the “Site”), how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@vehama.com.
Information we collect
- Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and comment you enter, together with your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
- Recipe ratings. If you rate a recipe, we store your star rating with that recipe. To prevent duplicate votes we keep, for 30 days, a one-way hashed value derived from your IP address and the recipe; your IP address itself is not stored. Your browser also remembers locally that you voted.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider and our content delivery network (Cloudflare) process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. This data is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and understand how it is used.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies as described below.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. At the moment the Site uses only strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies, for example security and performance cookies set by our content delivery network (Cloudflare) and login cookies for site administrators. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add advertising (such as Google AdSense) or analytics in the future, we will ask for your consent where required by law before those cookies are used, and we will add a “Cookie preferences” link to the footer so you can review or change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Site works.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use, or may use, Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. Please note:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and combating fraud.
Analytics
We may use analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate (for example, which recipes are most popular). These services may set cookies and collect information such as pages visited and approximate location. Where required, analytics cookies are only used with your consent. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Comments and embedded content
If comments are enabled, an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Pages on this Site may contain share buttons that link to Pinterest, Facebook or X; these are plain links and do not load third-party tracking until you click them and leave our Site.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain and secure the Site.
- To reply to your messages and moderate comments.
- To understand which content is useful and improve it.
- To display advertising that funds the Site, in line with your choices.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Where advertising cookies are used, this may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under some US state laws; you can opt out as described below.
How long we keep information
Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as the comment is published. Emails are kept for as long as needed to answer you and for our records. Technical logs kept by our hosting and CDN providers are retained according to their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, to data portability, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising. To exercise these rights, email contact@vehama.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Where we rely on a legal basis under the GDPR, it is your consent (for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, answering messages), or compliance with legal obligations.
Children’s privacy
This Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers and security
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. We use reputable providers and HTTPS encryption, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
